Brand Profile
Accademia Teatro alla Scala (La Scala Academy or “Academy”), led by President Victor Massiah and General Manager Luisa Vinci, has been training performing arts professionals for more than twenty years through its four Departments: Music, Dance, Stagecraft, and Management. While these twenty years refer to the Academy in its present form, its vocation as a seedbed for artistic talent dates back more than two centuries to 1813 and the founding of the Ballet School. Nourished by an unflagging passion over the decades, it has now developed into its current configuration as a private-law foundation in 2001 offering over thirty programs, including introductory and advanced courses, master’s programs, academic diplomas, workshops, and summer programs. While embracing its mission to pass on time-honored artistic traditions and artisanal techniques to the new generations, the Academy keeps its eyes on the future, keeping abreast of the times, always in harmony with the demands of the market and open to new technologies, a mediator between tradition and innovation.
Indeed, the new academic year opened precisely with the theme of transformation, with the announcement of new AFAM (advanced training in music, dance, and the arts) programs approved by the Ministry of Universities and Research (MUR): three first-level academic diploma courses in Costumes, Set Design, and Multimedia for the Performing Arts, and the Second-Level Academic Diploma Course in Dance Instruction, the natural extension of the three-year program begun in 2019 dedicated to those who wish to learn the teaching method of the La Scala Ballet School.
This rich and diverse catalogue keeps over 1,700 students busy every year in regular courses, summer courses, and advanced master classes.
