The Gate Florence Dance Urban School was born in 2021 by the collaboration of teachers and artists active in the contemporary scene. Its aim is to create an innovative and inclusive environment where students can grow and develop their artistic identity. This is achieved through the contributions of dancers, choreographers and directors from national and international dance companies.
We host a professional training course called "Get The Floor," a two-year program designed for contemporary and urban dancers. It covers practical and theoretical aspects of various disciplines (such as classical, modern, contemporary, contact improvisation, partnering, floorwork, improvisation, composition, acrobatics, hip hop, house, waacking, popping), along with sessions focusing on theater, lighting, physical conditioning, nutrition, and anatomy.
The primary objective is to prepare young talents to be versatile and capable of working collaboratively in the dance industry. This path includes the crucial role of a psychologist within the team, aiding dancers in exploring the connection between body, emotions, and movement.
The Get The Floor group has opportunities to perform new creations by renowned choreographers at various international festivals throughout the year. For young talents under 18 aspiring to pursue a professional career, we have designed a preparatory course named "Find Your Groove Pro."
The Gate also offers classes for dance enthusiasts of all ages and levels, taught by highly qualified instructors. Our educational offerings include workshops and intensive programs such as the Get The Floor Weekend Program, an eight-session course with guest instructors from our training program, Intensive Training in Waacking, House, and Popping, as well as the summer stage "Break The Flow."
Furthermore, we organize the "Make Noise" event, a contest dedicated to street dance and contemporary dance.
