This edition of DIF features many new contemporary projects.
600 Beats, the flash open call launched by Pitti Immagine and the EurAsia Dance Project International Network directed by Stefano Fardelli, seeks young choreographers under 35. This unique opportunity promises the winning choreographer a financial contribution designed to fuel a new artistic project through residencies in artistic dance organizations both in Italy and internationally, collaborating closely with EurAsia Dancers (who come from all over the world and are currently residing in Europe). Supported by UniCredit, Main Partner of Pitti Immagine, which has a long-standing commitment to nurturing young talent and fostering educational opportunities, this call aims to spotlight those dedicated to choreographic creation.
Among the many masterclasses available, highlights include a session on the Modern Dance Graham Technique, hosted by Antonio Fini (Friday, February 23 at 9:30 am and 11:15 am), and a dive into Modern Dance Parsons Style with Abby Silva, a noted former dancer of Parsons Dance, (Sunday, February 25 at 1:30 pm); and an intensive Atelier focusing on choreographic transmission, led by Fabio Crestale, the artistic director of the Paris-based company I funambuli (Sunday, February 25 at 9:30 am). Additionally, masterclasses inspired by the Limon technique and the Jooss-Leeder method will be conducted by Maria Giovanna Delle Donne, a distinguished Italian dancer from Tanztheater Wuppertal of the legendary Pina Bausch (Friday, February 23 at 4 pm and Saturday, February 24 at 9:30 am).
There will also be auditions for Joffrey Ballet School with Diego Salterini, longtime teacher for the summer courses and Artistic Director of Dance NOW! Miami (Friday, February 23 at 2:45 pm), with Angela Rebelo, ballet teacher and rehearsal assistant for the Ballet of the Grand Théâtre de Genève in Switzerland (Friday, February 23 at 4:30 pm) and with TRIX, experiencing the authentic New York Hip Hop style in an exciting and high-energy class (Sunday, February 25 at 4:30 pm).
Don't miss the Horton technique classes with Juan Michael Porter II, an internationally acclaimed dancer from New York, offering a chance to be selected for the FINI DANCE FESTIVAL, perform at the Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre, and appear in a dance video by Netflix choreographer Gianni Santucci. (Saturday, February 24 at 3:30 pm and 6:15 pm).
